Earth Day was officially announced on April 22nd, 1970 with the purpose to create a an environmental caring campaign for the people in United States and around ath world. The key of this campaign is the phrase "Recycle, Reduce, Reuse" which can help each family save the money and ealily to remember. Recycling, this is the very simple way to help the earth. You can teach your children to sort out the garbage and might even take them on the recycling center tour to see how the recycle work. When shopping you can plau "I Spy" game, just try to find the recycled symbol on the product made from recycle material.
Reducing is very easy, just turn off the electric device and water when they has been used. You can let your children play a game, if someone could find the most number of item that can be turn off. Do this every day and see the result how much electric power and water you spend wastely.
You can keeping track of each activities in your house that use water. list each activities and try to find out how you can reduce the use of those water in the activities, such as showering faster or use smaller toilet tank.
Transportation is the one of the fuel spend activity, and not just the gasoline, the cars also create pollution to the atmostphere too. Try riding a bike to the near place or just walk. Travel by public transportation is an alternative way to reduce the use of the personal transportation too.
Reusing is one of the best way to improve the environment. Reusing is mean bring that thing that can still be use to use again. Or you can plant a garden on the mulch pile of the unuse organic material and see how nature grown itself. You can plant the vegetable for your children to be a healthly alternative snack.
Earth Day is one of the best day to start teaching your children to love their environment. teach them when they are young so the can continue this environmental preservation when they grow up.
